Often the first month of a New Year is when people are bombarded with ideas for accomplishing their New Year’s resolutions. If you are a reader, or desire to be, this is also usually the time of year that recommended reading lists are published and Amazon gift cards are depleted. If you have not yet spent all of your book budget for the year, or you have included “book reading” on your list of New Year’s resolutions, perhaps this post will be helpful to you.
We understand that for many people, the discipline of reading feels overwhelming or unrealistic given busy schedules filled with work, parenting, and just…life. We also know that sometimes an obstacle to reading is a lack of planning or feeling unsure of where to start.
Reading can be a joy for some people and a chore for others. Regardless of which direction you find yourself inclined, we would encourage you to develop the discipline of reading books which encourage, deepen, and enliven your faith. The compilation below, reflects some of the books members of the board, and pastors of Redeemer Church either read in 2016, are currently reading, or have on their “soon to read” list. We have found these books helpful, and we commend them to you. Happy reading!
